After earning his Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from Middle Tennessee State University, artist Michael Melson spent more than a decade as a graphic designer/illustrator serving both corporate and music industry accounts throughout the southeast and in Texas. Through the years he has also been awarded many private painting commissions specializing in equestrian and portraiture. At the same time, Michael has also served for 13 years as a firefighter/ EMT in Georgia. Michael's attention to detail since he was young made for a smooth transition into mural work and later decorative faux finishing after studying under Martin Alan Hirsch at Decorative Finishes Studio. Michael began Melson Decorative Surfaces after taking The Art and Business of Faux Finishing 2 years ago. Since then he has invested into this thriving business by completing both Designer Wall Finishes And the extraordinary cutting edge RS series of the Faux Effects line of products. In 2006, Michael was awarded the decorative finishes contract for the historic 1870's "Old Mill Restaurant in Acworth, Georgia which won the state award for the "Best Restoration of 2006" and has attracted the attention of both local and national magazines.The Old Mill Restaurant has finishes covering the walls of the interior, and thousands of square feet in textured faux finishes...The Old Mill Restaurant Bar features unique finishes as throughout the entire restaurant.
